Opticrom Hayfever Eye Drops and Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops provide fast-acting, targeted relief from hayfever and allergy eyes. They can start to work soothing itchy, red and watery eyes in just two minutes.
Opticrom Hayfever Eye Drops and Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops shouldn’t be used for longer than 14 consecutive days, unless otherwise advised by your GP.
Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops and Opticrom Hayfever Eye Drops contain the preservative benzalkonium chloride. It’s a preservative that discolours contact lenses.
As with other ophthalmic solutions containing benzalkonium chloride, soft contact lenses should not be worn during the treatment period. This is because soft contact lenses have a high water content, so benzalkonium chloride is more easily absorbed.
Switch to wearing glasses during the treatment period. You can wear your soft contact lenses again as soon as your eye allergies have improved and you’ve stopped using Opticrom eye drops.
Opticrom Allergy Single Dose Eye Drops contain no preservatives, and can be used with soft lenses. It’s recommended that contact lenses should be removed before each application and may be reinserted after 15 minutes.
When using either Opticrom Hayfever Eye Drops, Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops or Opticrom Allergy Single Dose Eye Drops with hard contact lenses, you should remove contact lenses prior to application and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back into your eyes.
For your information, hard lenses do not have as high a water content as soft or disposable lenses, therefore the preservative in Opticrom Hayfever Eye Drops and Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops, benzalkonium chloride, does not absorb so readily. Plus, when hard lenses are rinsed with a rinsing solution, the preservative is quickly and easily washed away.
Opticrom Allergy Single Dose Eye Drops do not contain any preservatives.
Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops and Opticrom Hayfever Eye Drops contain the preservative benzalkonium chloride.
Opticrom Allergy Single Dose Eye Drops contain no preservatives.
Opticrom Hayfever Eye Drops are available from key retailers and can be used on children aged six years and above.
Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops are, however, sold under the supervision of a pharmacist who will advise if the product is appropriate for children.
