Hayfever Remedies

There are a range of over the counter hayfever treatments which help provide hayfever relief:

  • Opticrom Hayfever Eye Drops provide fast, effective relief from sore, itchy and watery hayfever eyes, and are available from leading pharmacies, supermarkets and online.
  • Hayfever nasal sprays like Nasacort ® Allergy Nasal Spray, used regularly throughout the season, can reduce sneezing, blocked and runny noses.
  • Other hayfever treatments include hayfever tablets. A variety are available. Many of these can be bought over the counter, and your GP or pharmacist will be able to advise on the most suitable one for your symptoms.
  • Hayfever sufferers with very severe symptoms may be offered a hayfever injection by their GP

Nasacort ® Allergy Nasal Spray contains triamcinolone acetonide. Always read the label.

Hayfever remedies typically contain an antihistamine, which blocks the action of the chemical histamine. Your body produces this chemical as an allergic response to the pollen or spores.

If you regularly suffer from hayfever eyes you can start treating symptoms with drops which reduce histamine release, such as Opticrom Hayfever Eye Drops.

Avoiding exposure to pollen should also lessen your hayfever symptoms, but for most of us staying indoors all day is not an option. However, staying indoors when the pollen count is very high (over 50) will help.
